Gab
Creek Farm is a small Morgan breeding operation in Georgia that works
to perpetuate the original "Primavera" prefix blood lines of
Dick Nelsen. The farm usually has around a dozen head of saddle horses.
The breeding program centers on "Primavera Brio", foaled in
1994, who combines some of the best blood of U.S. Govt, J.C. Brunk, Richard
Sellman and A. Fullerton Phillips (VT) and carries the Sellman-Hill crosses
to Major Antoine, The Admiral, and Headlight Morgan.
"Brio" is a 15.1h, close-coupled, old type horse of substance and refinement, who is clean at the poll, smooth strided, has a marvelous self-carriage and throws his height and presence. Brio has no lines to Upwey Ben Don. John and Joyce Hutcheson have made line bred crosses of Brio on descendants of Ab Cross's H-Ken and Dick Nelsen's Gay Vaquero. They have put several foals on the ground out of on an Ina Ish bred, Whippoorwill mare. They have put a colt on the ground by Funquest Erick out of Brio's full sister "Gay Mashanta". And they have crossed Brio on an exceptionally heavy boned, Brunk Bred mare who is double bred to Criterion, Jubilee's Courage and Jubilee King. John is always trying to put the "ultimate cow horse" on the ground. Foals for
sale, an occassional started horse ( Ed Connell's way), and Gab Creek
